"Located along the Control Road up Mt. Lemmon’s north slope, this campground is tucked away in a shallow, tree-filled canyon cut by Peppersauce Creek through rolling foothills covered with grass, oaks, and yucca. Campsites at Peppersauce are spread throughout a creekside oasis of enormous Arizona Sycamores and Arizona Walnut trees that cast deep shade in summer and a touch of color in autumn.
With its picturesque vegetation and dramatic setting at the foot of Mt. Lemmon, this is an outstanding area for enjoying an afternoon picnic or a weekend campout. But while you’re here, you’ll want to keep an eye on your hot sauce. This canyon was named by prospector Alex McKay, who camped here in about 1880 and reported that his hot sauce came up missing. The perpetrator (if there was one) has yet to be apprehended."

Coronado National Forest
Dispersed camping in the forest is free and there are dozens of excellent sites just off the many forest roads in the area. Most require high clearance and/or 4WD. Some of the best sites can be found west of Mt. Lemmon Control Road off Forest Roads 29 and 4472.

And it is a designated International Dark Sky Park.

October 30th- Traffic Control & Restrictions:
South Mt Lemmon Road is the only road leading to the 3C Ranch and beyond to the Peppersauce Campground (1.2 miles past the 3C Ranch) so please drive with caution and be on the lookout for bikes!

The Mt Lemmon Gravel Grinder start times range from 7:00 am-8:00 am and utilize S Mt Lemmon Road heading towards Peppersauce Campground.
For the safety and enjoyment of the Ride Start, the road will be closed for 1.2 miles (south) from the 3C Ranch to Peppersauce Campground starting at 7:00 am-approx. 8:00 am (1 hour).  The road will be closed to vehicular traffic during this time.

If you are participating in the Ride, please allow extra time to arrive safely and be able to park and ride your bike to the start line staging area located at 3C Ranch Headquarters.  We highly recommend arriving on Friday the day before when the event festivities kick off.  No one needs the extra stress on the morning of the event!
